Radio website

Here is a website worth looking into.

A friend on a different blog mentioned it. You put in the name of a group you like and they play music from that group and similar sounding groups.

Ashton Dam Spillway

The snow is melting and with a above average snowpack, the rivers are swelling. I have been wanting to go to the Ashton Dam for the last few weeks to see how the high water was affecting the spillway. Darren and I finally made it up there on Friday. It wasn't as exciting as we had hoped but it was still very impressive.

This may be hard to tell much of a differnce since the photographs were taken from different locations, however, there is no way I could get to where I took the first photo without being under a few feet of water.

Keep in mind that since I haven't gotten my film back from this shoot, you will have to bear with me while comparing a film captured image and my point and shoot digital capture.

The first photo was taken while standing just to the right of the rocks at the top of the water fall on the left.

A portrait of the legend. Even the black of night doesn't stop this crazy photographic fool.

Darren's Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow. (How cheezy can I get? I didn't construct this photo, it just happened. I promise.)

Mother's Day Weekend

As all should know, Mother's Day was this last Sunday. If you forgot, your mud.

We had a pleasant weekend spent with mom. On sunday I fixed some steaks, artichokes, asparagus and for dessert we had strawberry shortcake with cream. I told mom she wasn't allowed in the kitchen. I did a pretty good job keeping her out.

After dinner we had a fun game of scrabble. One of my mom's favorite games. I guess I should have let her win. Oops.

Here is our completed game. Yeah, I know, we sure did a good job coming up with sophisticated words. Is there a word longer then four letters on the board? Not many.

Pretty easy to win when your competition draws letters like this. I just had to photograph it, could you ask for a worse hand?

Saturday at the Market

I don't know why, but other people I show this photo to don't seem to find it as amusing as I do. How often do you see this coming down the isle at the super market?

Nikon D200

Finally!!! I have finally decided to take the plunge . . . again. A few years ago I purchased a Canon 10d digital SLR. That was back in the day when I was working for the local newspaper. Well, I sold that camera just as the new model was being released anticipating that I would buy the more current version of the camera at some point. I also wanted to make bigger prints so I decided to focus my efforts on shooting film.

Well, I finally decided to get back in the digital ball game. So after much debate and humming and hawing, I ordered a Nikon D200 camera. It was back ordered and I didn't anticipate receiving it any time soon. Well, today it shipped!!!! I should be receiving it by weeks end. I'll be sure to post some of my first photos with my new child.

Here is a photo of what my camera will look like.

Ridinghome.com

I feel like I have been posting weak photos for the last few posts. I decided to post something a little better. Here is a photo I took about 2 years ago. It was during a trip with my two brothers near Moab, UT. Jerry on the left, Paul on the right. I was their support crew, documentarian, and what ever else for the trip. It was a fun trip and I really enjoy some of the photos I came home with. Here is one I 'stole' from my brother's website ridinghome.com while at work today.

No more flowers

Ok, I'm sick of having the flowers on my blog.

Today I decided to post some random, very random photos. I went searching through all the photos I have taken in the last 5 months for something to post to my blog. These caught my eye. (interpretation: I couldn't find anything better to post).

This first photo is very intriguing to me for some reason. It has a strange formal and narrative quality to me. It seems to tell a story without really saying anything specific. Maybe its just because I know the story. What does it say to any of my readers? Is it a lost cause? Is it late and I shouldn't be working on my blog? Am I smoking crack? Do tell. What do you see?

My second photo is pretty simple to explain. Here is what I see or think when I look at this photo "I don't know how anybody can survive without a pickup truck to carry all their junk around." : ) Actually, I am more thinking something like this "Why do I have so much crap in the back of my truck?" It kind of makes me laugh and I wonder what this photo says about me on a personal level.

Enjoy.

Busy Busy

Wow, life has been busy (but fun). Today was a great example of how I have felt in the last little while. I woke up at 6:45am and got going, worked a long day and finally walked in my door at about 10:15 pm. Yet here I am on my blog. I really felt like going straight to bed when I walked in but I had to prepare an invoice for a print order that is way over due. And once I get on the computer I get distracted and end up spending more time then I intend. Lets see, I have probably spent about 13 hours looking at a computer monitor today. Ugh.

Ok, enough of that. I have some photos to share. I wish I had some photos from my kayaking trip this weekend. It was a blast. I love to kayak. It scares me to death but I love doing it. Go figure.

Anyways, back to the photos. This weekend I spent a little time at Darren's house. In his back yard he has an apricot tree with blossoms on it. I took a few snap shots I am quite happy with considering I was hand holding the camera and the wind was blowing about 30 mph gusts.

Here you go mom (my mom likes daffodils).

Who knew fire could do such a thing. This is from last weekend's activity in my parent's back yard. We were doing some yard cleanup and started a fire to burn some of the branches we were trimming.
