Home from my trip

Most of you probably don't know I even went on a trip or why I have neglected my blog for the last 17 days. Well, let me tell you.

I made a very last minute trip to Los Angeles last week. We left two fridays ago and just returned this last weekend. It was a working trip and not much of a vacation. However it was REALLY nice to enjoy the warm weather. We had mid 70s all the time we were there. Back home they had -10s. SWEET! I am so sad I missed it.

The trip was to clean out my grandma's house and bring home the remaining items in the house before it is sold. I am going to post pictures in reverse order for a reason I won't bore you with. Ok, I'll bore you. I only have the recent images in Jackson with me and the photos from the earlier part of the trip are on my mom's laptop.

Driving to LA took us only 15 hours. On the way home, it took us over 20. Tonight's photos show one of the reasons why. Other reasons include President's Day weekend exodus from L.A. and stupid drivers that got in accidents in Salt Lake from driving too fast on icy roads that made the freeway move at 20mph. In L.A. we drove 60 miles in 3 hours. Ugh. Oh, we also wasted a little time in Vegas and threw a few quarters into the good old slot machines. $6 lost for over an hour of entertainment. Can't imagine losing much more then that though.

As for the photos, we have all seen those misc scraps of tire tread scattered on the freeway. Well, I contributed a little bit of my own to this common freeway decoration. A professor of mine said truck drivers call them aligators.

Let me tell you, when your tread rips off like this it makes a pretty big BANG! Woke me right up from my road trip enduced trance. And this all happened only an hour into our second day of driving.

Thank goodness for Road-side assistance provided by Budget of course.

Oops! Glad you and mom made it home safely, especially through the blizzard in Salt Lake.
